I am excited to welcome Robert Rock to the Families First Mediation family and announce our expansion.

Robert comes to us as a new associate trained in arbitration and mediation with a focus on non-separation/divorce disputes. He brings decades of experience in finance, internet and technology, and community and sports organizations. In addition, he is a town councillor in the Township of Scugog. Robert looks for balance in positions, needs and perspectives. His approach to dispute resolution is inquisitive, empowering, and inclusive. He values processes that support active participation and autonomy.

With the addition of Robert, Families First Mediation can provide a variety of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) services for a wider range of issues – All UNDER ONE ROOF!

We believe that our approach, training, experience, and familiarity with the kinds of issues that we support make Families First Mediation unique.

We know that families are not only connected and impacted by those within the family but by other people, interactions and environments that set a family up for success. Challenges related to disputes in the workplace, with a contractor who didn’t complete a home renovation, between landlords and tenants, business partners or neighbors are all situations that may impede the success of a family. Competing demands can cause conflicts and stress to become intertwined in the various areas.

Without taking family out of the equation, we ensure our approach acknowledges the connectedness of families. While a will challenge may be a civil legal action, it is a family dispute at its heart. The overlap with wills and estates and family law for issues such as dependent support claims or elections for equalization instead of entitlement under the will (or intestacy) should make Families First your first choice.

Families First Mediation is now able to offer co-mediation for bigger groups or multiple complex issues and offer mediation-arbitration with each of us leading one phase for those concerned about the neutrality of the process with the same professional acting as both the mediator and arbitrator.

Julie and Robert have over 55 years of experience in business, including mediation, arbitration and training both adults and youth. We have extensive experience in negotiation, conflict management and communication, in both a business/corporate environment and personal/family matters. We have worked with families, unions, management & human resource teams, schools, non-profits and sports clubs.

We can work with you to mediate or arbitrate a dispute, provide conflict coaching or create a training program around conflict resolution and communication that meets your needs.

We can work with you for your separation or divorce, your elder care or caregiver dispute and your workplace challenge…All UNDER ONE ROOF.
